💡Why Anesthsiolgy?

Anesthesiology is the blessing of modern medicine.

Imagine being a patient. You’re lying under the bright white hospital lights, anxious for your major heart surgery. The anesthetist gives you what they call ‘courage medicine,’ ad you start counting backwards 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… and suddenly your surrounding change, you wake up, in a blink of an eye your safe in another room. It’s all over, and that’s extraordinary. Before anesthesia existed, surgery was a source of terror and anxiety. Today, it is a miracle that allows healing to happen in peace. It is the “magic” that makes surgery happen. No pain, but simply into a quiet, safe blink of an eye.

💡 Why “Anesthesia Explorer”?

The field of medicine especially anesthesiology often feel too advanced to approach as someone with no prior background knowledge. I’ve found that as a high school student who was trying to figure out their passion and future career, that learning about the basic of anesthesia itself gave me an headache. It was so much information and at first it just scared me. Untill I was blessed with an opportunity to shadow a CAA (certified anesthesiologist assistant): Christian Cravery, I was taken back. Him and his colleagues fostered an environment of learning. Anesthesia was no longer intimidating, rather it was beautiful. I fell in love with the science and the art of anesthesiology. To me, anesthesia feels like art and puzzle disguised as science.

I noticed that many student run blogs and websites to inform and spark curiosities about the STEM field, like chemistry but not many explore the field of anesthesiology. That is what this website is for. To allow students like me to gain basic knowlege of anesthsia but also perhaps even spark that passion in this noble field. The field that is in need of protectors and watchers of patient in the operating room.

💡 But a student? What do you know about Anesthsiology?

That is a very valid point, I am just an undergraduate students. But that is exactly why I started this project. While we have amazing doctors and providers and researchers, not many resources are offered for highschoolers and College students who wants to discover this field.

I am not an expert yet, I am an explorer. My goal is to shut the light on this field by being a bridge between the classroom and the operating room, using real research to show why Anesthesiology is truly the blessing of modern medicine.
